Eclipse Season Rambling

image

On the brink of autumn; the season begins

Another shadow on the sun hurdles me back to ’97

A cool breeze on the Crooked River pulls something out of me

Roots sprout from the soles of my feet, and dig deeply into the ground

I am seventeen again, sweating through an uncomfortable June…

that spreads into a horrifying early July…

But just as my hands become fists, just before the tension suffocates me

I am wrenched back through time and space by a firm, but gentle breeze

Sweet sagebrush and the last of the wild flowers

Bring me back to me

I am far away from that ugly scene

Tucked safely away in the high desert

I am far away from that scene

I am far away from that scene

I am far away
